Girls' Coaches

Varsity

Nick Plazak

Nick Plazak is in his seventh year as the head coach for the Lady Vikings. He currently has a 56 - 36 - 18 record with the Vikings, and with over 50 wins, Nick has won more games than any other coach in the history of the Lady Vikings soccer program. Nick's coaching experience includes the Louisville High School boy's program and the North Canton Hoover boy's JV program. He currently also serves as a coach for the North Canton Strikers Club program. During the 2004 campaign he was named Federal League Coach of the Year.

Nick is in his eighth year of teaching science at Hoover High School. He attended Montana State University and earned a teaching certification from the University of Akron. He also has his masters in Instructional Technology from the University of Akron.

 

JV

Ashley Duerr

Ashley Duerr is in her first season as JV coach for the Lady Vikings. Ashley has worked with the girls this spring and summer to increase their fitness level for the season. She played for Lake High School, was a three year letter winner. Ashley went on to play club soccer at Kent State for all four years and continues to play co-ed soccer at Diamond Sports complex.

Ashley teachers 9th grade World History and 10th grade A.P. U.S. History at Hoover High School. She graduated from Kent State University, cum laude. She is currently working on her Masters degree in Education Administration at the University of Akron.

 

Assistant

Sam Simmerman

Sam Simmerman has been coaching for the Hoover High School girls' soccer program since 2006. Sam has coached for over 13 years including rec. league, club, and now high school.

Sam Simmerman is in his fifth season as a coach with the Hoover High School girl's soccer program. Sam has coached for over fourteen years beginning with a recreational league, moving on to club and now with the high school. He has coached for the Lake Soccer Club and the North Canton Strikers Soccer Club as well as organizing and coaching teams for the Hoover players indoor and outdoor. Sam is a partner of the law firm of Krugliak, Wilkins, Griffiths & Dougherty Co., L.P.A.

 

Brian Girdlestone

Brian Girdlestone is in his seventh year as the assistant coach for the girl's Varsity soccer team. Brian has previous coaching experience as head coach for Berkshire High School in Burton, Ohio. He started playing soccer at age 4 in Sydney, Australia and was a 4 year Varsity player. He graduated from St. Aloysius High School in Sydney and from Walsh University. He is a Guidance Counselor at Hoover High School. Brian is married and has four sons.
